Spring workshop March / April 2025

Summer represents the fire element in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), an element associated with feelings of joy, enthusiasm, action, warmth and fun, and with the heart, small intestine, triple heater and pericardium meridians. When the fire element is balanced, we feel bright and attentive, happily and easily interacting with the world around us, and our sleep is sound and replenishing; when imbalanced we may experience anxiety, sleeplessness, restlessness, or lack of energy, unhealthy introversion and inertia.
In this immersion, we will explore somatic awareness (deconstructed yoga in movement, neurodevelopmental movement) and simple self-massage techniques in order to nourish and balance the effects of the fire element in our body. We will explore movements that sensitize us to the deep frontal volume of the body, gently freeing the chest of unnecessary tension, and integrating the effects of gentle back-bending shapes into our daily postural experience.
I have been teaching and practicing TCM shiatsu and somatic awareness for 25 years. I continue to learn and am always curious about the latest developments in neuroscience , TCM and movement.
“Moving Into Stillness” Somatic Awareness for the Metal Element Online in English Saturday 13th May 2023 8H30 CET
This is an immersion into the element of metal associated in TCM with the autumn season and the lung and large intestine meridians. (in English for Southern hemisphere students but of course open to all).
Somatic awareness (deconstructed yoga in movement, neurodevelopmental movement) and self massage (“do-in”) for the metal element seeks to nourish lung and large intestine meridians and their associated functions of immune support, breathing and elimination. In this way, these meridians are like an interface with the world around us, managing incoming air and food, and outgoing breath and elimination, and the associated function of a healthy exchange with our surrounding social and physical environment.
As the joyous, social summer months give way to rainy days and colder weather, the awareness begins its journey inwards, which will culminate in the cocoon of winter. The body lives this seasonal change as the immune system is called upon to strengthen its capacities for the colder months, a function associated with the metal element in TCM.
The feeling of letting go and reflection on time passing leads sometimes into grief and sadness, and these are the emotions connected with metal and autumn.
The workshop will include extra information sent before, that you can refer to during the workshop. A recording will be sent to you.
We will explore all this and more this Saturday, please join us! you can book and pay https://www.redearthcentre.com/eng/online-class-booking/ and will be sent the link via your email.
Date and time : 13th May 2023 8H30 – 11H

Autumn Equinox 2022
A warm welcome to old and new visitors !
here in the northern hemisphere school is back, the days are moving towards autumn after an exceptionally hot summer. We are reflecting on the summer and preparing another cycle.
I am already receiving shiatsu clients in my space here in Verrières Le Buisson as we accompany the seasonal shift somatically.
Classes will begin again next week (from Monday 12th September) for my individual and group classes. Classes open to all are :
Monday 12H30-14H (in English and online only)
Monday 7.30pm – 8.45pm (in French and online only)
Wednesday 9.15am – 10.30am (in French, in studio at Verrières Le Buisson and online).
I have two workshops for you this month :
– a spring/wood element dive for those in the Southern hemisphere (or for those who just want to move their liver !) Saturday 17th September 2022 8H – 10H30 Paris time in ENGLISH (14H – 16H30 WA time) only online
A southern hemisphere September workshop to prepare the body for SPRING , beginning the stimulation and nourishment of the spring meridians – the liver and the gall bladder, using gentle movement and self massage from the yoga, shiatsu and developmental movement traditions.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, meridians are tonified by movement, massage and dietary changes about a month before the season shifts, reflecting the movement in the natural environment.
In the spring, changes are afoot in the plants long before we see the flowers opening, and so it is in the body.
The immense force of the spring is represented in the liver and gall bladder meridians and the element of wood. it is a powerful physical force, connected with easy physical and emotional flow, inspiration and creativity.
This workshop is appropriate for all body types and ages. It will be given online on the 17th September 2022, 2pm – 5pm West Australian time, 8am – 11am Central European Time. AU$50
and: late summer/autumn workshop (en français) Sunday 18th September 14H – 17H Paris time online and in studio at 25 rue de Longchamp Paris. 75016.
In the late summer and early autumn , the body regroups and lives the change from the social, joyous summer months. Letting go into the shorter days and cooler weather, the coming of winter, can be both touching and reflective, and not without a tinge of sadness as we let of another summer. Lung and large intestine meridians are those associated with autumn, they express physically and emotionally our interface with the world around us. Our capacity, or lack thereof, to exchange with the world around us. The grounding earth aspect of the late summer helps us prepare for the subtle autumn experience.
Through movement, self-massage (“do-in”), and seasonal dietary changes, we nourish the body to move with the seasons. Please join me for this unique workshop Sunday 18th September 2022. (See “reservations” to book and receive your link or info, or contact me redearthcentre@yahoo.com)
I’m very much looking forward to seeing you at my studio or online,
Love

Body of Water – Developmental Movement and Yoga – Sunday, January 30th 2022, 14H – 17H
Hello everyone and happy 2022 , may we all move through these times as peacefully and as lovingly as possible…
On a personal level, I continue to move and learn , and this is reflected in what I share with you in classes or workshops, or in our exchanges.
One of the big influences for me in the past three years has been Developmental Movement, and Polyvagal Theory perspectives on the nervous system. I am grateful to be a member of Kaila June’s wonderful online community, Interdisciplinary Movement and Somatics, which is an ongoing source of inspiration and a treasure trove for curious movers like me…
This month my online classes have been diving deeper into developmental movement, as a lot of those prevertebrate movements are so nourishing for the water element and therefore perfect fit for winter movement exploration.
I am excited to offer a workshop this Sunday 30th January 14H – 17H CET, either in person at 25 rue de Longchamp, Paris 16, or you can join us online via Zoom.
This workshop will include discussion, tonifying water element self-shiatsu, and a long lush movement session using developmental movement perspectives to enrich and facilitate our movement practice.
Developmental movement refers to how we moved in the first years of life, and how our consciousness developed with this movement as we awakened to the world and gradually integrated patterns and reflexes that brought us from infancy to a fully mobile, communicating and feeling human being. These movement patterns therefore underly our movement and the connected ease with which we move (or not!) through the world: they have been more or less nourished by innumerable experiences – cultural, social and physical and emotional to name but a few. In retracing and in some cases re-establishing these movements, we often discover new and more fulfilling ways of moving and being.
I hope you can join me this Sunday. You can book here, or feel free to email me or call (06 10 89 76 04) for further information.
